SteraMist

Flood Department is an authorized provider of SteraMist Binary Ionization Technology(BIT) Solution. This process was created during the anthrax scare in 2001 by the government and the technology was sold into the private sector after that to TOMI. This technology far exceeds manual application of disinfectants for several reasons, three main ones stick out. First is dwell time. In order for manual disinfectants to be effective they need to have a dwell time of from 5 to 10 minutes depending on the product. Hardly anyone applies them according to the EPA registration approved guidelines and therefore the use of manual disinfectants is insufficient.  SteraMist has a dwell time of 5 seconds. Second, SteraMist has a micron size of 0.05 microns and with the misting form of application this allows the SteraMist mist to get into nooks and crannies that manual applications will not allow for. And third, SteraMist is perfectly safe to apply to computers, keyboards, cell phones, monitors, etc. There is no harm done, no corrosion, no residue left behind, nothing to wipe off. We are recommending that companies think about this technology as a precautionary measure considering that one of their customers might have been exposed and has carried COVID-19 into their facility. Their social distancing measures may have been effective to keep their employees from contracting COVID-19 but the virus may still be alive on surfaces and still be a danger to staff or other customers.
